Manifoldlab not working |
Lead | |
|
(04/25/09 04:00:41) |
After installing manifoldlab newest pluginset (20090119) on Wings 0.99.5 whenever i try to create any new primitive wings report a crash. Although wings window
doesnt crash complete but no primitive is created. I tried deleting prefrence file too but it doesnt help. I cant post crash dump as i am browsing from mobile.
Does anyone else has similar problem?

Yes, I have the same problem. You can try to reinstall Wings (into the same folder, without deleting anything).
Take a look at this thread: http://nendowingsmirai.yuku.com/topic/5984?page=2 |

OK ... ManifoldLab experimental update with todays date is available.
wings3d.net Recompiled for current Wings3D 1.x codebase. Sorry it took so long for me to update after you guys complained. I've been too busy with other stuff and my machine was not configured for Wings3D development. Now it is configure right. So let's make sure my update is good and proper ManifoldLab. I'll try to do more proactive testing of old features soon. But it seems the new release should solve some problems for you guys. The release seems much smaller (30% ... 50%) so I must check on why that is the case.

I could sure use some help testing of this new release comparing it to prior
releases. The Wings3D code base changes have me a little paranoid. But seems good so far. I'll try to release something new this month. |

The ribbit part of the plugin is still conflicting with pre-existing materials. Deleting the ribbit folder fixes the problem.

Thanks, Gg
Perpendicular displacement sounds cool, but arcbend is easier to understand, so I think you should keep that name. Btw I've found a bad bug (related to pattern again) in the new release: Create a pattern >>> Recall the pattern from pattern request >>> Wings freezes |

Send screen shot of pattern that freezes.

Send screen shot of pattern that freezes.
Will be names ArcBend Plus or similar. Has extra parameters that allow your to scale and displace the thing while it bends to make crazier shapes not so easily done in TWO STEPS. Sometimes more interesting things can be done with a THING-A-MA-JIG. Hopefully released by this coming weekend. |

I have to rework the code that saves the old dialog values. Sorry ... I lost some of it from prior release.
Will fix soon. My bad. ** Can you use the Plugin Manager to turn off ribbit plugin *** in order to not have a material conflict ????

Yes removing ribbit in the Plugin Manager does fix the material conflict. That is an easier workaround.

Manifold Plugins not working with Wings 1.1.4.
|
(06/20/09 11:23:17) |
I have Wings 1.1.4 installed and Manifold 2009-05-05. When I select a Manifold command, such as Voronoi, set my options and click ok, the screen goes blank
and does nothing. As soon as I click on the screen my object re-appears, but nothing has happened to it. It is just as it was before I selected the Voronoi
command. It does the same thing with most other Manifold options.
I am running Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3. Thanks. Update: I wasn't seeing this error message before when I tried to use the Voronoi command because my background was set to black and the text wouldn't show. I get the following message: Internal error - log written to c:/PROGRA~1/WINGS~1.4/wings-crash.dump. Guys ... I have to check with the Devs to see how far along the code transition from gb-trees to arrays has come. I know they expected to do this in several
releases.
Bjorn ???? Optigon ???? Dan ???? Any comments on that initiative ? Yes ... plugin is broken due to incompatibility with New wings3D. Sorry, not sure when I'll get to fix. Hopefully not too super long.

Arrays does not allow negative indices, so visibility must be handled in some other way if we are to use an array for faces. |

OK ... thanks. I have experimentally updated one of my modules and the required plugin
changes seem fairly well contained due to the similarity of the arrays to gb_trees. Thanks Bjorn. I'd like to think I can update Manifold lab within a few weeks. Sorry for the delay. It's summer and time to play a bit. |

I'm making fairly good progress on re-working my ManifoldLab.
Sorry so slow. But I'd rather have you use a couple Wings3D installs for now until I get it right enough to do a release. I have maybe 85% of the ManifoldLab functions tested in New Wings3D. I have afew more man-days of programming to get it finished enough. But I have to fit that into a Summer schedule. It is fairly straightforward update to my code, thankfully. |

I still have a ways to go to get ManifoldLab back to Stable as it was w.r.t. each function.
So just beware, growing pains for sure. Pattern Walker and directed edge stuff is WIP and has serious issues. Play with and treat as alpha software. |

A minor release tonight to help with the pattern walker bugs.
If you don't remove Directed edges before changing an object, you get a problem. But I've added some logic that tends to get rid of directed edges at the right times ... to pattern walker. I have to add code do the display of directed edges that can figure out if they are "Expired". A little tricky but I've got a hint from DanG. |

Hi! I just downloaded and installed the 7 17 Manifold Lab exe (I'm guessing most recent installs are further down the list?). I'm using Wings 1.1.7.
When I try and do an 'enclose hull' it generates an internal error. Is this to be expected with the current combination of Wings and MF? That enclose
function is just amazing, especially for designing more organic looking hulls for ships - just place the components then build a hull around it! Love it.

To the best of my knowledge the Manifold Lab plugs require version 1.1.4. It is broken for the newer versions.
